Kim Cattrall Biography

Kim Cattrall, Actress Date of Birth: August 21, 1956 Birthplace: Cheshire, England Sign: Leo Kim Cattrall was born on August 21, 1956 in Cheshire, England to Dennis and Shane Cattrall. She is one of four children and when Cattrall was only a year old her family moved to British Columbia, Canada.

Returning to England at age 11, she studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Cattrall returned to Canada to finish her final year of high school at age 16.

After graduating high school in 1972, Cattrall moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting. After graduating from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Cattrall signed a five year movie deal with director Otto Preminger.

Universal Studios bought out her contract a year later. Cattrall worked for Universal on a number of television projects including the show The Incredible Hulk. Cattrall appeared on several TV shows and later moved on to movies. She starred in the 1980 movie Tribute, and in 1982 she starred in Porky's.

Cattrall landed her career defining role as Samantha Jones in the HBO series Sex and the City, airing from 1997 through 2004.

During Sex and the City Cattrall was afforded many opportunities, including the chance to co-author a book about sex with her then third husband, Mark Levinson. In 2008 Cattrall reprised her role as Samantha Jones in the Sex and the City movie.

Cattrall is scheduled to executive produce and star in a new HBO series Sensitive Skin, adapted from a British series of the same name.

Cattrall has been married three times. Her first marriage to Larry Davis was annulled. Cattrall's second marriage to Andre J. Lyson and third marriage to Mark Levinson, each ended in divorce.

Kim Cattrall has been dating Canadian chef Alan Wyse, 28, since the summer of 2004, and it is rumored they are engaged to be married.
